Back to the coal face...

I’m all packed up and ready for the final round of the Midlands XC at Sherwood on Sunday. I am really looking forward to getting back into racing again. I haven’t done any sort of training since Sleepless in the Saddle. My max has been about 3 hours of gentle riding in the pack on a club run and a couple of commutes. To be hones, I may need reminding what the words 'breathless' and 'sweating' mean! My mountain bike got its first use since Sits last night for couple of sprints and about 200m of singletrack. I know, not exactly perfect preparation, but it’s the best I could do! My knee has still been giving me a bit of grief so I have been very cautious. I am seeing a physio tomorrow so hopefully she will be able to give me some advice on where to go from here.

I am currently sitting 6th in the overall midlands standings so hopefully with a good result this weekend I might be able to drag myself onto the series podium! That would be a great end to an amazing season but I’m not counting chickens just yet!

Packing last night was almost a pleasure rather than the usual chore. My new duffbag swallowed everything from my shoes to big tubs of Bikefood energy and protein! Much easier than a couple of holdalls and a few loose bits and bobs! Great stuff!
